The UNIQA Group is planning to sell all its shares in the publicly listed Mannheimer AG Holding to the insurance group "Die Continentale", pending the necessary regulatory approvals. A fundamental agreement regarding the sale was signed on 23 November 2011.

Mannheimer Versicherungsgesellschaft was founded in Mannheim on May 2, 1879 and initially operated in marine insurance. Today the Mannheimer Group actively deals with property and casualty insurance as well as with personal insurance.The company concentrates on the German market, but also offers selected brand products in other EU countries in the area of services and in Switzerland.
Since 2004, the UNIQA Group has been a majority shareholder of the listed parent company Mannheimer AG Holding, of which it holds around 91 percent.As a medium-sized insurer, Mannheimer specialises in market segments. In its core business of property and casualty insurance the Group has been positioned in the market for a long time with its full subsidiary Mannheimer Versicherung AG.
On the market the company is known as an insurer for special solutions and target Groups.Some of its individual insurance solutions have characteristic, legally protected brand names, like SINFONIMAâfor musicians, ARTIMAâfor artists or VALORIMAâfor jewellers.mamax Lebensversicherung AG was founded in 1999 as an online life insurance company and offers standardised and therefore very competitive online life insurance policies. What is more, since 2007, it offers convenient, transparent company pension schemes through the agency partners of the Mannheimer Group.Mannheimer Krankenversicherung AG was founded in 1991 as a subsidiary of the Mannheimer Group and operates in the market with sophisticated full-coverage insurance policies for healthcare costs.
For a period of time, the shares were fully owned by UNIQA. In April 2009, the company was bought back by Mannheimer AG Holding.
