UNIQA Group acquired 100% of the share capital of the Romanian UNITA VIG at the end of 2008. In April 2008, UNITA becomes UNIQA Asigurari, and a full integration and rebranding process started.
The company was founded in 1990 in Timisoara, being the first private insurance company in Romania. In 1991 it started its life business and in 1996 its general insurance business.
UNIQA Asigurari is ranked 8th on the Romanian non-life insurance market and it has a countrywide network of 170 branch offices, agencies and points of sales.
