Gottfried Wanitschek is a member of the management board of UNIQA Versicherungen AG since 1999 and is responsible for the areas of administration, legal, construction and properties, the administration of participating interests and auditing. Gottfried Wanitschek was  a management board member of the Bundesländer-Versicherung and the Austria-Collegialität since 1997.

Gottfried Wanitschek was managing director of the Kurier GmbH, executive board member of Mediaprint and director of Zeitschriften-Verlagsbeteiligungs-AG from 1993 up to his appointment to the management board of the Bundesländer-Versicherung

From 1990 to 1993 the learned lawyer guided the fortunes of the listed Beteiligungsholding Leipnik-Lundenburger Industrie AG, initially as company officer with statutory authority, then as a member of the management board after he concluding extensive education in strategic management.

His professional connection to the insurance industry started in the 80’s. As head of the legal department of the Raiffeisen Versicherung (1985) and later as secretary general he made contact with the insurance industry. Gottfried Wanitschek’s first role in the insurance industry was in the Versicherungs-verband (Insurance Association) where he gained the necessary basic knowledge. 

Born in Burgenland, he enjoys spending his leisure time most with his wife and three children. At present little time remains for his hobbies; tennis, sailing and music – Wanitschek plays piano and clarinet.
