UNIQA Corporate Group Profile

The UNIQA Group Austria is one of the leading insurance groups in Central Europe and consciously unites Austrian identity with European format. In the eight years since its formation, the UNIQA group has quickly established itself in both the domestic and the Central and Eastern European markets.

In Austria, UNIQA is the leading insurance group, with a market share of approximately 22% and approximately 6,000 employees. In addition to the publicly listed corporate parent UNIQA Versicherungen AG, the group includes UNIQA Sachversicherung AG, UNIQA Personenversicherung AG, Raiffeisen Versicherung AG, Salzburger Landes-Versicherung AG, CALL DIRECT Versicherung AG, FinanceLife Lebensversicherung AG as well as service and financing companies.

Not incidentally, UNIQA enjoys a brand awareness of 95% among the Austrian public and is the undisputed top brand for 54% of Austrians, which is a tribute to the company values of quality, respect, integrity, community and flexibility.

Fully 30 operational insurance companies of the entire UNIQA group in 20 regional markets currently have a premium volume of more than EUR 5.8 billion euros – of which about 38% was generated outside of Austria.

With approximately 19,000 employees, 7 million customers serviced group-wide and nearly 15 million policies in 20 regional markets, UNIQA is among the most dynamic corporate groups in Central Europe.

For years, UNIQA has enjoyed a stabile “A” rating from Standard & Poor’s.

UNIQA in Central and Eastern Europe
Outside of Austria, UNIQA is pursuing a clear expansion strategy in Central and Eastern Europe. By intensifying foreign commitment, UNIQA sees the opportunity to create new space for expansion. In addition to the domestic Austrian market, UNIQA is also active in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Poland, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Liechtenstein. Over the last years, this list has been expanded to include Slovenia, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro and the Ukraine as well as Albania, Macedonia and Kosovo.

Internationally, UNIQA is pursuing two different strategies:
In Western Central Europe (Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Germany), the UNIQA group has a clear target group strategy with product specialties for specific customer segments and niches.

In Eastern Central Europe, UNIQA has positioned itself successfully as an insurer that covers all industries. The goal across all of Eastern Central Europe is a uniform brand policy. An essential success factor here is a uniform and clear corporate structure and orientation, which is developed through equal cooperation among all foreign companies, ensuring that is accepted and implemented in the daily lives of all participants.

Preferred Partnership with Raiffeisen
The Raiffeisen bank sector and UNIQA have been successful partners for many years – and not based solely on their capital ties. Both originated as cooperatives and can look back on unique success stories in the area of bank assurance in Austria. It is therefore a logical step to extend these positive experiences to the countries of Eastern and Southeastern Europe. The sale of UNIQA products over the bank counter has particular strategic significance in these high-growth countries, and the cooperation with the network banks of Raiffeisen is showing very promising development.
