Standard & Poor's
Standard & Poor's Insurer Financial Strength Ratings assess the financial stability of an insurance company and hence the ability of a company to meet its obligations from an insurance policy at any time. In contrast to the so-called "pi" ratings, which are based exclusively on the analysis of publicly available information, as part of the Insurer Financial Strength Ratings discussions are held with the top management. The company strategy and capitalisation of the group are analysed by the Standard and Poor's risk based capital model and also play a major part in the rating process. The Group holding company UNIQA Versicherungen AG arising from the Group restructuring in November 1999 has from its inception subjected itself to this external analysis.
