UNIQA group result 2000 according to IAS for the first time

In the financial year 2000, the UNIQA Group managed to record a strong premium growth in spite of difficult market conditions.

Group results
The UNIQA Group consolidated financial statements, prepared in accordance with the International Accounting Standards (IAS) for the first time, shows a clear premium growth of 9.4% to ATS 34,472.1 million (EUR 2,505.2 million). The consolidated insurance benefits amounted to ATS 33,764.5 million (EUR 2,453.8 million / +10.8%). The operating expenses reduced to ATS 6,469.9 million (EUR 470.2 million / -1.2%).


The capital investments of the UNIQA Group Austria were stocked up by 6,1% to ATS 143,312.8 million (EUR 10,415.0 million). The earned net financial income increased by 3.1% to ATS 9,146.9 million (EUR 664.7 million).

The profit on ordinary business activities, according to IAS, amounted to ATS 577.1 million (EUR 41.9 million) for the financial year 2000. According to Austrian reporting, the calculated profit on ordinary business activities is, with ATS 816.9 million (EUR 59.4 million), on the previous years’ level.

The profit per share, before the amortisation of goodwill, increased by 28.5% to EUR 0.18. Considering this amortisation, the profit per share amounted to EUR 0.15.


UNIQA Versicherungen AG
The listed holding company, UNIQA Versicherungen AG (financial statements according to the commercial code), increased premiums by 12.1% to ATS 6,233.0 million (EUR 453.0 million). The claim expenditure amounted to ATS 3,328.0 million (EUR 241.9 million / +16.6%). Theprofit on ordinary business activities increased by10.2% to ATS 366.4 million (EUR 26.6 million), and capital investments increased by 8.0% to ATS 13,531.8 million (EUR 983.4 million). A dividend distribution of ATS 2.2 (EUR 0.16) per share will be proposed at the shareholders meeting on 25 June 2001.
