New Structure for the UNIQA Management Board

In a meeting today, the UNIQA Versicherungen AG Supervisory Board took the following decisions: Since at the end of the year 2001 all the mandates of the Management Board of the Group (excluding that of the Chairman, Dr. Klien) will expire and Messrs Schatzdorfer and Schimetschek will be retiring on grounds of age, the Management Boards of the companies will be reorganized as from 1.1.2002 and will be as follows.

The holding company UNIQA Versicherungen AG will be headed from 1.1.2002 by a five-headed management team, comprising 

  • Dr. Konstantin Klien, born 1951, as Chairman and responsible for the policy, marketing and staff of the Group as a whole
  • Dr. Gottfried Wanitschek, born 1955, responsible for finance and participations
  • Mag. Hannes Bogner, born 1959, responsible for accounting and controlling
  • Dr. Andreas Brandstetter, born 1969, responsible for foreign business and direct selling
  • Karl Unger, born 1953, responsible for information technology and customer service.

In the operating subsidiaries, Dr. Christian Sedlnitzky (born1946 - Raiffeisen Versicherung AG), Dr. Johannes Hajek (born 1954 - UNIQA Sachversicherung AG) and Dr. Peter Eichler (born 1961 - UNIQA Personenversicherung) will represent the Management Board. Helmut Posch, born 1956, for a long time the head of field management, will assume this function in the Management Boards of the two operating companies of UNIQA. Karl Unger will take over the life insurance area in all companies. In CALL DIRECT he will be assisted in the Management Board by Dr. Andreas Brandstetter.

As Solicitor General Ök- Rat Dr. Christian Konrad, President of the UNIQA Group, noted in a meeting of the Supervisory Board: “This new organisation takes account of the new architecture of the Group, the increasing importance of foreign business and direct marketing, the new technologies, and a balanced age structure in the management bodies of the UNIQA Group.”
