One Monday 8^th November 1999 Chairman Herbert Schimetschek celebrated the christening of UNIQA with 650 prominent guests from the fields of business, politics, culture and society. Austria´s largest insurance group, (proceeding from Austria-Collegialität and Bundesländer-Versicherung) will from now on have a new name, a new modern appearance and a new “curved band” logo created with the help of international experts.

As Chairman Schimetschek told the invited guests in the Redoutensaal of Vienna´s Hofburg, with UNIQA´s new structure, new name, new appearance and new company philosophy it can now confirm its qualitative and sustained market leadership in Austria and – with its deliberately Austrian identity – become one of the leading insurance providers in Central Europe.

The musical part of the celebration was provided by the Dave Brubeck Quartet together with the Young Vienna Philharmonic, under the patronage of UNIQA.

By last weekend, more than two million UNIQA customers had been informed by post of the new appearance.
