A further step in the strategic positioning of the UNIQA Group Austria´s foreign activities.

The UNIQA Group sells its minority holding in the Hungarian insurance company SIGNAL Biztosito Rt. to the German SIGNAL-IDUNA Group

Hungary remains an interesting market, but concentration is increased on the Group´s own activities and majority shareholdings.

The Management Board and the Working Group of the Supervisory Board of UNIQA Versicherungen AG have agreed to the sale of the 21.6% share in Signal Biztosito Rt. (Budapest) to the SIGNAL-IDUNA Group. The German Group already has a majority holding of 64% in the Hungarian company.

This involvement in the Hungarian insurance company had existed since 1993, when it was originated by Austria-Collegialität (now UNIQA Personenversicherung AG).

With the implementation of the UNIQA Group´s internationalization strategy, there is a concentration on Group activities in the form of majority participations. After the alternative of taking  a majority share in SIGNAL Biztosito had been dropped by UNIQA, also because of the SIGNAL-IDUNA Group´s own interest, it was decided to dispose of the minority holding.

Even after withdrawal from this company, Hungary remains a strategic target market for UNIQA. Possibilities for entering the market via a company within the Group are currently being intensively pursued.
