UNIQA Group Austria expands its harmonized appearance on the market to Poland

ZUiR Polonia S.A. becomes UNIQA TU S.A.

-In the General Meeting on 19th June 2002 a change of name from Zaklad Ubezpieczen i Reasekuracji Polonia S.A. (ZuiR Polonia S.A.) to UNIQA Towarzystwo Ubezpieczen S.A. (UNIQA TU S.A.) was agreed. -The life insurance subsidiary of ZuiR Polonia S.A., Zaklad Ubezpieczen i Reasekuracji Polonia-Zycie S.A. (ZuiR POLONIA-Zycie S.A.) will change its name to UNIQA Towarzystwo Ubezpieczen na Zycie S.A. (UNIQA TU na Zycie S.A.).

This change of name is the logical progression of the policy started in 1999 to present the UNIQA Group in a harmonized way. From 2003 on, UNIQA will stand in Poland for security, competence and quality in insurance, as also in Austria, Switzerland, Croatia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

POLONIA
POLONIA was founded in 1990 as the first private Polish insurance company and was taken over in June 2001by the UNIQA Group as part of its expansion policy. Today, with a premium volume of PLN 309.1 million (EUR 74.8), POLONIA belongs among the top ten Polish insurers. Its core business is in motor vehicle insurance, corresponding to the dominance of this field in the total market. POLONIA’s range will be expanded with new products, especially in the field of personal insurance, and will contribute to increase its market share in the coming years. Here the Polish UNIQA company should also profit from the “European products” currently being developed, which will be handled similarly in Austria and all subsidiaries, though differing in terms of risk and market.

The marketing of insurance products will be organized nationally via the 16 voyvodas, 56 freelance representative and 3,800 agents.

UNIQA Group Austria
UNIQA regards itself as a European insurer with a clear focus on the core region of Central and Eastern Europe. For the UNIQA Group Austria, which has long experience in these areas, it is important that all companies connected with the Group, at home and abroad, do not lose their local identity, and that tools are created that, despite the use of all synergies, enable local needs to be met. The preconditions are being created by creating  lean administrations that use central service functions (EDP and e-commerce services, accounting, product development.
