According to preliminary data, UNIQA Biztosito increased its premium volume in 2007 by 23.4% to roughly €264.7 million. The company thereby succeeded once again in significantly exceeding the growth of the overall Hungarian insurance market of 12.0%.

The clearest market trend was visible in the non-life sector. In this area, UNIQA was able to increase its premiums by 21.7% to €136 million, while the market grew by only 2.9%. As a consequence of this development, it was possible to increase the market share in this area to 8.1%, bringing UNIQA to fourth place within the Hungarian market. In life insurance, UNIQA Biztosito also outperformed the market (+20.9%) with premium growth of 25.1% to €128.5 million.

Othmar Michl, CEO of UNIQA Bitztosito: “In non-life insurance, our growth numbers are far above average in practically all areas. We performed particularly well with our products for motor vehicle liability insurance. But we also achieved significant gains in home and apartment insurance as well as technical and transport insurance. In the life insurance sector, public demand for our unit-linked products was especially high. The success, however, is definitely due to our excellent and balanced sales network that relies on 1,000 of our own sales employees, intensive cooperation with brokers and, of course, bank sales.

UNIQA Biztosito was founded in 1990 and has been a member of the UNIQA Group Austria since 2003. With 137 offices, the company offers an outstanding and comprehensive service network in Hungary. As of the end of 2007, the 1,400 employees were supporting and managing 651,000 insurance contracts. In consideration of the rapid growth, construction was recently begun on a new headquarters in Budapest, which will be completed in 2009.
