Saša Krbavac, CEO UNIQA osiguranje d.d.: "We are extremely happy with progress in 2008 and have significantly strengthened our market position. UNIQA is amongst the companies with the highest premium growth in Croatia. The expansion of our sales network, a whole string of newly introduced products and the cooperation with our partner, Raiffeisenbank, made a significant contribution to our growth. Despite the deterioration of the Croatian insurance market announced for 2009, our goal remains to achieve dynamic double-digit growth well in excess of the market."

UNIQA Croatia achieved its greatest premium growth with an increase of 44.8% to HRK 91.2 million (EUR 12,4 million) in non-life business, with the strongest rise recorded by the segments of motor vehicles (+48%) and accident (+181%). In life insurance, premiums written rose by 22.1% to HRK 92.2 million (EUR 12,6 million). UNIQA Croatia currently has a market share of 3.6% in life insurance. "We therefore not only achieved our original target for the year to increase market share to 3.1% by the end of 2008, but even outperformed it by a wide margin," says Krbavac. Market growth was thus clearly exceeded in both areas (non-life insurance: approx. 8.4% / life insurance: approx. 2.8%).
