UNIQA Czech Republic beats market growth by five times

In the first three quarters of 2011 the Czech UNIQA pojistovna, with an increase in premiums of over 11%, succeeded in growing five times faster than the market (1.8%). This put the company in a solid 10th place among the more than 40 insurance companies on the market in the Czech Republic. UNIQA was able to increase its premium volume in the Czech Republic in the first nine months of the current year to €167.7 million (CZK 4.093 billion).

In the non-life segment, UNIQA pojistovna – contrary to the slightly decreased market trend (-1.7%) – was able to increase its premium volume by 7.2%. This means that UNIQA is in 7th place on the market in this segment, and achieved a premium volume of €122.6 million (CZK 2.992 billion) and a market share of 5.5%. Of this, €119.4 million (CZK 2.913 billion) were in property and casualty insurance (+6.4%) and €3.2 million (CZK 78.6 million) in health insurance (+49%!).

With strong growth of about 24% in life insurance, in the Czech Republic UNIQA succeeded in outperforming the market average of 5.6% by far. The premiums could be increased to €45 million (CZK 1.100 billion). The Czechs were particularly enthusiastic about the second limited issue of the life insurance single premium product “Garant FIX für Einmalprämie” – the tranche was sold out inside of just a few days.

Martin Zacek, Chairman of the Management Board of UNIQA pojistovna: “We set ourselves ambitious goals for 2011 and worked towards them in a heavily contested market with a great deal of commitment and customer proximity. We see our success as a confirmation of our strategy of relying on high-quality products and consultation.”

Today the company is already represented as a composite insurer at more than 180 locations throughout the country. Their comprehensive insurance solutions in both life and in non-life segments have already been awarded many times.”
For example, the financial experts selected the product “Risk life insurance with dividends” in 2010 and 2011 as the best financial product in life insurance (1st and 3rd place). In a survey by the webserver www.mesec.cz, UNIQA was named “Jumper of the Year” to 2nd place among all the insurance companies.

The UNIQA Group Austria has been active on the Czech market with UNIQA pojistovna, a.s., Prague since 1993. In the first three quarters of 2011, the company’s entire premium in force increased by 7.7% to 632 400 policies.
