The total capital investments of the UNIQA Group increased in the first three months of the business year 2002 by 7.0%., At  the end of March, excluding deposit requirements from reinsurance business, they  stood at EUR 11.7 billion in the books and had increased over the equivalent  value last year by EUR 767.5 million. Current investment income rose by 9.8% to EUR 163.0 million. The increase of interest rates in the first quarter of 2002 led to marked book loss values in the pensions area.

The expenses of the domestic companies declined 4.0% compared with the equivalent period last year to EUR 140.8 million The expenses of the foreign companies rose to EUR 21.4 million particularly because of the new inclusion of the Polish companies.

In the field of life assurance current billed premiums through direct business rose by 20.2% to EUR 191.5 million. The single premium business and special products were reined in deliberately for reasons of risk and return, and reduced to EUR 71.8 million Damage and accident premiums increased by 20.9% to EUR 314.5 million. With a correction for the premium income of POLONIA, the premium income from damage and accident insurance rose by 11.9%. Health premiums rose by 3.7% to EUR 175.2 million.
