EBRD invests in UNIQA subsidiary

Already in 1999 the EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development)  will acquire a 20% (Kuna 8 million) stake in the UNIQA subsidiary in Croatia, Austria Osiguranje. This participation was based on a "multi-project facility agreement" made in 1998 between the EBRD UNIQA (then still under the name BARC) which formed the basis for EBRD investments in insurance projects of the UNIQA Group Austria in Central and Eastern Europe. Already in May 1999 the EBRD took a 16.67% share in the UNIQA subsidiary CRP in Prague.

Polish market still interesting

First negotiations on participation in a Polish insurance company have so far yielded no results. However, possibilities of entering the Polish market are still being intensively analysed and pursued.
