UNIQA Versicherungen AG
UNIQA Versicherungen AG is the restructured company arising from the fusion of the former BARC Versicherungs-Holding AG with the Austrian Bundesländer insurance company, and within the newly formed. UNIQA Group itself acts as the umbrella company. It deals with reinsurance and is the only company of the Group listed on the stock exchange. UNIQA Versicherungen AG has a holding of 100% in the non-life business of Raiffeisen-Versicherung, Salzburger Landes-Versicherung and Collegialität-Versicherung and 63.4% in UNIQA Personenversicherung .

UNIQA ordinary shares have very largely replaced three parallel but different categories of security (Bundesländer ordinary shares,
preference shares and participation certificates). The remaining participation certificates which have not been swapped will continue to be listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange. In 2000 it is planned to extend the stock exchange listing to the entire share
capital of the Group. UNIQA Personenversicherung
Following the restructuring of the Group, UNIQA Personenversicherung now deals with life, health and accident insurance for the Bundesländer-Versicherung, Austria-Collegialität, Austria Lebensversicherung and Austria damage and accident insurance. For
this reason a comparison with last year’s data is not possible.
The premiums earned by the Company over the first nine months of the current year amounted to ATS 9,581.0 million Of this 60.9% is accounted for by health insurance, 31.7% by life assurance and 7.4% to accident insurance. Claims paid in the first three
quarters amounted to ATS 8,593.0 million. UNIQA Sachversicherung
Following the restructuring of the Group, UNIQA Sachversicherung took on the non-life business of the Bundesländer-Versicherung and Austria damage and accident insurance. For this reason a comparison with last year’s data is not possible.
The premiums earned over the first nine months of the current year amounted to ATS 4,867.8 million. Claims paid amounted to ATS 3,500.0 million. Motor insurance accounted 52.8% of the premium volume. Raiffeisen-Versicherung
Within the UNIQA Group Austria, the Raiffeisen-Versicherung plays a special role. It offers its products exclusively to customers of the Raiffeisen banks. It uses some 2,500 Raiffeisen bank branches which provide a dense national network with highly
qualified bank staff available to advise customers
The market leader (1998) among Austria’s life assurance companies increased earned premiums from January to September 1999 by more than a third to ATS 6,411.1 million. Concurrently, claims paid rose by 11.8% to ATS 2,423.1 million
From spring 2000 the Raiffeisen-Versicherung, formerly active in life and accident insurance, will cover all lines of insurance. In this respect, own capital will be increased by ATS 150 million. Salzburger Landes-Versicherung
The Salzburger Landes-Versicherung is a classical regional provider of products, mainly in the Salzburg area and the adjoining areas of Upper Austria and Bavaria. In the first three quarters the company earned premiums amounting to ATS 784.6 million
(+2.5%) and paid claims amounting to ATS 453.8 million (+30.1%). Collegialität Versicherung
The Collegialität Versicherung specialises in direct selling of accident, life and health insurance, under the brand name "Collegialität direct". In the first three quarters of the business year 1999 it earned premiums amounting to ATS 27.3 million (+34.5%) and paid claims of ATS
1.7 million.
As a direct insurer, Collegialität is also planning to offer products tailored to Internet users.
