UNIQA SEE colleagues in action

27.02.2026 3 minutes reading time

Every day across the UNIQA Group, our colleagues demonstrate what living better together truly means. In the SEE region this spirit has recently taken shape through two initiatives.

The SEE Heroes initiative shines spotlight on the colleagues who go above and beyond their roles, using their time, expertise, and compassion to support others. They have been nominated by their peers for their kindness, professionalism, and the personal passions that enrich the community. Their stories remind us that meaningful change often begins with small, consistent acts of kindness and showcase a true inspiration.

The second one were the tree-planting efforts in Croatia, where UNIQA employees volunteered to contribute to the restoration of local forests.  UNIQA Croatia turned casco insurance campaign into an environmental pledge: for every policy sold, UNIQA would plant one tree. This initiative reflects UNIQA’s belief that environmental responsibility is a shared story — one where every effort counts.

SEE Heros Stories in Overview

Building Belonging and Strengthening Teams

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, two colleagues, Adnan Piplaš and Aida Zametica, stand out for their deep commitment to people:

Adnan has volunteered for years as a coach at FK Respekt, a unique football club working with children from orphanages, marginalized communities, and families facing social or economic hardship: “My goal is for every child to feel they belong, that they matter, and that their dreams are important, no matter where they come from.” His work extends to supporting migrants, unaccompanied minors, and participating in community relief efforts such as flood response.

Aida, a Sales Support Coordinator with more than 23 years of experience, has become an anchor for colleagues across the country by being known for her patience, reliability, and deep commitment to helping others succeed. From guiding sales teams through complex cases to mentoring younger colleagues and contributing to digital projects, she represents the quiet strength that keeps teams moving forward.

Acts of kindness that inspire

In Croatia, Lucija Marić, Petra Šipuš, and Mario Zorić showcase different ways one can make a profound difference:

Lucija volunteers at a public kitchen in Zagreb, offering warm meals to those facing homelessness or financial hardship. Within UNIQA, she is known for her infectious energy, her willingness to help others, her work on the rowing team, and even her achievement in the Idea Factory competition.

In addition to selling insurance, Petra is also an eyebrow artist, who decided to help women in difficult times. She supports women undergoing cancer treatment by using her skills to restore their confidence. Her belief in the power of small acts of kindness reflects the heart of the SEE Heroes initiative.

With two decades of UNIQA experience, Mario is the colleague everyone can count on at any time and day when they need help – technical, procedural, or motivational. His colleagues describe him as someone who always takes the extra step to make their work easier – setting a standard for teamwork across the organisation.

Protecting communities and building resilience

In Romania, Elisabeta Ursu and Vasile Miron stand out for their exceptional efforts and values they bring to UNIQA:

Elisabeta volunteers with the Utility Dogs Club, training with her dog ASHA to support search-and-rescue teams in emergency situations. Her dedication contributes to real-life preparedness and community safety. Through her efforts, she inspires and motivates those around her to get involved and make a real difference in people’s lives.

Vasile, a key member of UNIQA's IT security team, is valued for his calm, structured approach to solving complex issues. Whether supporting DORA projects or guiding colleagues through IT challenges, he is considered a trusted partner across departments and has had a significant impact, contributing to effective solutions and strengthening compliance activities within UNIQA.

Planting for the future: UNIQA volunteers in Croatia

The commitment to community is equally visible in UNIQA Croatia’s tree-planting initiative in the last autumn. Around 40 employees spent a day planting trees - oak seedlings on Sljeme, supported by experts from the partner organization Croatian Forests. The initiative was linked to UNIQA Croatia´s casco insurance campaign in 2024: for every policy sold, a new tree would be planted. With more than 18,000 trees UNIQA Croatia is proud to make a real contribution to forest renewal and climate resilience.
