Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA)

FATCA is a US tax law that affects the global financial industry. In addition, Austria has an agreement with the USA regarding the cooperation for the facilitated implementation of FATCA. The goal of FATCA is that financial institutions identify US taxpayers among their customers and report them to the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

UNIQA customers with life insurance contracts that have a surrender value or with annuity contracts who are subject to US tax or who have a connection to the USA (e.g. US citizenship, green card, place of birth and/or residence in the USA, etc.) can use designated forms to confirm whether they are subject to US tax (form W-9) or not (form W-8BEN for individuals or W-8BEN-E for legal entities):
