Group Actuarial hosts new summer internship format

In July, the NatCat Competence Center (NCCC) held the first Summer Internship Programme (SIP) in Group Actuarial under the leadership of Judith Cerdà Belmonte.

Over a period of three weeks, nine interns from the areas of Group Actuarial, Group Risk Management and Actuarial Life Insurance were able to gain an impression of various projects and activities of the Group Actuarial Office and the NCCC. In eight workshops, the participants were immersed in various fields of knowledge, such as how to understand a complete internal model or how to decipher an earthquake model. In the all-round view of the diverse contents, the practical application of what had been learned was not neglected.

The crowning finale was the awarding of the diploma, embedded in an exclusive social programme with a guided tour of the boardroom and an event in the Skybar. In the future, graduates of the programme will be able to participate in ongoing events of the Group Actuarial Office.

An internship with added value

"We are very pleased that our summer programme was so well received. The overview we were able to convey ranged from our future programme UNIQA 3.0 to the assessment of natural disasters to the tasks of the actuarial department in the life and non-life segment. It was exciting for our participants to see the interrelationships between the individual topics and the great responsibility that UNIQA bears in the area of risk assessment," said Judith Cerdà Belmonte, Head of NCCC.

Roman Schneider, Head of Group Actuarial: "A programme like this gives us the opportunity to bring together interested interns and give them a deeper insight into our daily work. In doing so, we were able to make the working world in the actuarial department and NCCC more tangible and at the same time arouse curiosity for a wide range of topics. One part also dealt with UNIQA 3.0, illustrating how we align our daily tasks with our corporate strategy. On the way to becoming the best employer, these are valuable offers for young people that are very much appreciated. But not only that, we also show to the outside world that it is attractive to become part of our team."
